56% Say YES to Fixing the Blue Section Roads!

June 19, 2023

Dear Village residents,

This afternoon, we submitted the signed Blue section petitions to Bloomfield Township to initiate the next step in the process of rebuilding the Blue section roads. Despite the wintery weather when we started in March, the signature effort took less than 4 months to complete.

Collecting signatures from a majority of the residents in the Blue section was the first hurdle to overcome before we can fix our roads. Next, the signatures will be counted and verified by the Township, followed by a series of hearings with the Township Board of Trustees. If all goes according to plan, the Oakland County Road Commission will bid the project this fall, and construction in the Blue section will start spring 2024. At this point, Blue section residents have accomplished something we haven’t been able to do for the last 60 years – garner more than a majority to support forming an SAD to fix our roads! Congratulations to our Blue section volunteers for their hard work and perseverance in getting us to this point! And to our Blue section residents, for having the courage and foresight to be the first section in 60 years to support fixing the roads.

Though more than 56% of residents in the Blue section have signed the petition, there are a number of residents whom our volunteers were not able to reach and ask to sign. If you are still interested in signing the Blue section petition, you may contact me at 248-594-8376 or villagemanager@bloomfieldvillage.net to arrange a time to sign.

Residents of the Blue section will receive additional communications with further detail about the hearing process at the Township.

What is the status of the Pink Section?

Volunteers have gathered over 80% of the necessary signatures in the Pink Section. If you are interested in signing the petition in the Pink Section – there is still time (but not a lot). Please contact me to arrange a time to sign.
