Construction Update — BLUE section 9/4/24

Construction Update from RCOC (weather permitting):

This Week

  • Verdeterre will continue preparing locations for Doan to place concrete.

  • Doan and GM & Sons will be pouring concrete curb and driveways starting on Burning Bush, then Ardmoor then Hupp Cross then Wooddale Road. Notices will be posted on front doors of impacted residents about 48 hours in advance.

  • Mike’s Landscaping will be out making repairs.

Next week

  • Verdeterre will continue prepping locations for Doan to place concrete curbs.

  • Starting Wednesday 9/11/24, curbing work, including concrete curbs and driveway approaches, will continue on Wooddale Court, Half Moon, Roland and Tuckahoe. Notices will be posted on front doors of impacted residents about 48 hours in advance.

  • Mike’s Landscaping will be out making repairs.

Driveway access restrictions and parking during curbing process

Concrete work, which includes concrete curbs and driveway approaches, will continue in the BLUE section for the remainder of this week and again at the end of next week. As a reminder, this curbing process includes removal of temporary driveway approaches, pouring concrete curbs, laying concrete driveway approaches and allowing the concrete to cure. Residents will not have access to their driveways for about two weeks, starting from the day the driveway approach is removed. This allows time for the concrete curbs/driveway approaches to cure before there is vehicle traffic on them. See more information on the curbing process and related limitations on driveway access and parking restrictions HERE.

Residents who will be impacted by the concrete work will be notified about 48 hours in advance with a notice on front doors. The notice will include the date on which the work is expected to start. Vehicles should be moved from driveways/garages and parked elsewhere prior to 7 am on the date indicated to avoid being blocked in for the two-week period.

Looking ahead . . .

Curb and driveway approach removal will begin on the second side of Overhill, N. Williamsbury, Hamilton, and Glengarry Circle West the week of September 16. New concrete curbs and driveway approaches will follow about two weeks later. Asphalt removal (milling) and grading to prepare the sub-grade for paving will begin in the western part of the Blue section the last week of September, with paving to follow in early October. Milling, grading and paving will likely begin on Ardmoor, then move on to Burning Bush, moving east to west along each street. During milling and grading, there can be NO street parking during the workday; during paving, the street will be completely closed with no traffic or parking allowed. More details will be provided as we get further into September.

Pink section work

Milling began on Waddington today and will continue on Tilbury Place tomorrow, then Tilbury Road and Yarmouth between Cranbrook and Maple on Friday. Milling is scheduled for Saturday on Pine Street and the north part of Yarmouth east of Cranbrook. Grading will follow the milling operation on each street and will continue through early next week. There can be no street parking during these operations; further, the milling equipment will completely block the street and require traffic to detour around it. Next week, paving will begin on Waddington on Wednesday 9/11, then Tilbury and the south end of Yarmouth on 9/12, then Tilbury Place, Pine Street and the north end of Yarmouth on Friday 9/13. Streets will be completely closed to all traffic during paving. If these streets are part of your normal traffic pattern, you will want to find alternate routes to avoid the milling, grading and paving work through the end of next week.

Oak Blvd. between Covington and Cranbrook is now open for traffic. Milling, grading and paving of Oak will begin later this month. The contractors are aware that Oak is used by families headed to/from Quarton School and are working to minimize the disruption to school traffic if possible.

Reminders

Please avoid parking during the workday on any street where there is active road construction and ensure any contractors/workers at your home understand and follow this guidance. Our streets are just not wide enough to accommodate construction equipment, traffic and parking at the same time. Limiting traffic on streets with active construction would also be a big help.

Thank you for your patience and understanding during this project.
