South Lyon Township is Fixing Their Subdivision Roads
Headline from Hometime Life, weekend of July 22-24, 2022:
”This Sprawling Subdivision Wanted Its Roads Fixed, So Owners Are Paying it Themselves.”
We are not alone. Other Homeowner Associations throughout Oakland County are doing exactly what we are attempting to do.
Read the article about what a Lyon Township subdivision, just like ours, that is attempting to repair their roads.
”This Sprawling Subdivision Wanted Its Roads Fixed, So Owners Are Paying it Themselves.” Some quotes from the story:
“I am not a casual observer, and to find out abruptly that no one was going to fix our roads was a shock to me,” Ledbetter said. “You are going to be in for a rude awakening that no government agency will fix the roads for you. You will have to find a way to pay for them yourselves.”
That quote reflects the same situation we’ve found during the last three (3) years of research. Again, from the same article...
Craig Bryson, communications manager for the Road Commission for Oakland County, confirmed. “[Subdivision roads] are never going to be repaved by the county. We agreed to maintain them, but not repave them. That is the case in every township subdivision in the state.”
Either we accept crumbling roads
or
We can solve the problem together, as neighbors.
