Curbing and Paving in the BLUE section — week of September 30

Curbing and paving schedule for the week of September 30:

Curbing

Curbing will begin in the eastern part of the section on Monday, September 30 as follows:

Monday/Tuesday — Glengarry Circle West and Overhill. The contractor will start at the north end of Glengarry Circle West, and proceed around the circle then move south on Overhill toward Bradway. This work will likely take both Monday and Tuesday.

Wednesday — Hamilton and N. Williamsbury

The first step in the curbing process it to remove the temporary driveway approaches. Concrete curbs are poured second, and concrete driveway approaches are laid third. Asphalt driveway approaches will be laid later, during the paving process; temporary stone will be placed for the time being, until the asphalt is installed. As a reminder, residents will not have access to their driveways for about two weeks, starting when the driveway approach is removed. Notices will be placed on front doors about 48 in advance of the approach being removed. Please have cars out of the driveway/garage before 7 am on the day indicated in the notice, to avoid being blocked in. Parking outside of the Blue section will be the best option, to avoid interfering with the curbing process. Once the driveway approaches have been laid on a street, the curbing work will be completed, and residents can park on that street until driveway access is restored.

Paving schedule

Grading will continue throughout the week to prepare the sub-grade to receive asphalt; grading work will generally follow the order the streets will be paved, as listed below. The tentative schedule for paving in the western part of the section next week:

Wednesday (10/2) — Ardmoor then Burning Bush

Thursday (10/3) — Hupp Cross, Half Moon, Wooddale Court

Friday (10/4) - Roland, Tuckahoe and Wooddale Road

Paving dates will be dependent upon the weather and the condition of the sub-grade on each street.

A procession of asphalt trucks will be staged on Bradway Blvd.; trucks will back onto the street being paved, supply asphalt to the paving machine, then drive out. Bradway will be very congested throughout this process — residents are advised to park well away from Bradway, and to avoid driving on Bradway west of Hamilton.

Streets being paved will be completely closed to ALL traffic; residents will be unable to get into or out of their driveways until the asphalt has cooled sufficiently and the street is reopened. The contractor will reopen the street as soon as it is safe for vehicle traffic — usually several hours after the asphalt is laid.

There can be no parking on the street during grading or paving operations. Any vehicle parked on the street at any time during these operations is subject to towing. Please ensure all household members, sitters, and any other worker at your home is aware of the parking restrictions.

Parking options: With the level of congestion on Bradway during the paving operation, residents should park on streets south of Bradway or on the part of Ardmoor that is not in the construction zone (not in the Village).

It will be a busy week with much congestion in the Blue section, particularly where grading and paving operations are being conducted. Residents are advised to leave early and allow plenty of extra time to navigate the construction. Thank you in advance for your patience and understanding!
