Pink and Blue Sections — Restoration Work
With the spring weather (hopefully) approaching, the Road Commission and Ajax are planning to restart restoration work in the Pink and Blue sections.
Mike’s Landscaping will complete replacement of bluestone front walk pads (between the sidewalk and the street) that were removed last year during construction. Mike’s or the Road Commission will coordinate directly with each of the 9 impacted homeowners regarding the timing of the work. Mike’s plans to start this work in the near future, as soon as weather permits.
In the Blue section, Mike’s will start removing the mulch blankets and placing topsoil and sod as soon as the weather permits and material supplies are reliably available. Mike’s anticipates that this work will begin around mid-April, depending on the weather.
Similarly, in the Pink section, any remaining restoration of topsoil and sod is expected to begin in mid-April.
Sprinkler repairs
Mike’s would like to begin sprinkler repairs when work on topsoil/sod starts, around mid-April. To facilitate completing sprinkler repairs early in the watering season, homeowners are encouraged to schedule their contractors for sprinkler system start-up as early as possible. This will allow Mike’s to test any repairs at the time they are made, and ensure that systems are working properly.
For Blue section lots that require sprinkler repairs as well as topsoil/sod, sprinkler repairs need to go first. While Mike’s can attempt to repair broken lines and heads without the system being “charged” with water, the repairs can’t be tested until the system is operational. Having the sprinklers up and running when Mike’s arrives to do repairs will save time (and probably frustration) and ensure you are able to water any new sod.
In both the Pink and Blue sections, the Road Commission has a list of homes that have been sodded, but still need follow-up for sprinkler repairs. It would help greatly if your system is operational when Mike’s arrives to complete the repairs. If you have not yet contacted the Road Commission, or find new construction-related damage when you restart your system, please contact Wayne Dabrowski at the Road Commission. wadabrowski@rcoc.org. Wayne is the keeper of the master list of required sprinkler repairs.
