Gold and Yellow Section Information

Gold and Yellow section petitions were released in August 2024. Estimated costs for each section:

Gold section $50,434 per parcel

Yellow section $55,319 per parcel

See Gold section petition language HERE.

See Yellow section petition language HERE.

The estimated construction cost for each section reflects the specific scope for that section — number of driveways, ADA ramps, corners, drainage structures, utility structures, fire hydrants, etc. The cost per parcel will reflect the number of parcels in the section sharing the cost of that section. The number of parcels in a section will impact the cost per parcel.

On November 13, we announced that 52% of the Gold section residents have signed petitions in support of fixing their roads. Bloomfield Township has completed the verification of the signatures; the next step for the Gold section will be the public hearing process at Bloomfield Township. The first public hearing will likely take place in early January; Gold section residents will be notified of the public hearing by letter from Bloomfield Township.

On December 3, we announced that more than 53% of the Yellow section residents signed petitions in support of fixing their roads. Bloomfield Township has informed us that signature verification for the Yellow section petitions has been completed, and the Yellow section will start the public hearing process. The first public hearing will likely be scheduled in early January. Yellow section residents will receive a notification directly from Bloomfield Township regarding the date and time of the public hearing.

How does Bloomfield Township validate signatures on petitions?

The Bloomfield Township Assessor’s office manages the SAD process for Bloomfield Township. When petitions are submitted to the Township, the Assessor’s office validates each and every signature against other records to ensure that the proper person signed the petition. The documents used by the Assessor’s office include (but are not limited to):

  • Deeds and other property records on file

  • “Principal Residence Exemption” forms on file (these are the documents through which the homeowner claims the homestead exemption for property tax purposes)

  • Voter registration records

  • Driver’s licenses

  • Request the homeowner to sign in person at the Assessor’s office.

The validation process also ensures that the appropriate individuals signed the petition. If a homeowner is married, both spouses must sign the petition even if only one is on the title. Where there is another individual on the title (e.g., a parent), that individual must sign as well.

Once the Assessor’s office validates the signatures and that homeowners representing at least 50% of the parcels and 50% of the frontage have signed petitions in support of the SAD, the public hearing process begins.

Are there less expensive options than a full rebuild of our roads? See blog post on this topic HERE.

Residents are encouraged to attend a small group meeting to discuss the Roads project and any questions they have in a small group setting. The meeting schedule and sign-ups are available at the link on the home page.
