Paving scheduled in PINK section for 9/18/24
Paving is scheduled in the PINK section on Wednesday, September 18, for the following streets (in this order):
South end of Yarmouth between Cranbrook and Maple, including the part of Bradway Blvd. east of Cranbrook, then
Pine Street, then
North end of Yarmouth east of Cranbrook.
These streets will be closed to all traffic and parking for the paving operation. Residents will want to find alternate routes to avoid these streets during the paving day.
For the south part of Yarmouth, paving will start at Pine Street and work south toward Maple. Asphalt trucks will be staged on Maple, and back down Yarmouth to supply the paving equipment. For Pine and the north part of Yarmouth, paving will proceed from east to west, with the asphalt trucks staging on Maple, then entering Pine or Yarmouth from Cranbrook. Flaggers will be placed at either end of streets being paved.
About the Paving Process
Paving is a full-width operation. Streets being paved will be closed to ALL traffic and there can be no street parking. The operation will begin at 7 am; any vehicle parked on the street at that point will be subject to towing. (A single vehicle parked on the street will hold up the entire paving process.) Residents will not be able to enter or leave their driveways during the paving work.
When laid, the asphalt is hot enough to melt shoes and tires and cause significant injury. The asphalt will cool over several hours; once it is cool enough to drive on, that portion of the street will be opened to vehicle traffic. Homes at the south (or west) end of the streets, which will be paved last, may need to wait until the next morning for the asphalt to be sufficiently cooled.
Residents on streets impacted by paving will want to remove any vehicles they need from the driveway/garage and park them out of the construction zone the night before paving (see below for parking suggestions). Please ensure that all members of the household and any sitters or other workers are aware of the parking restrictions. Residents will want to schedule lawn crews, construction crews, other contractors and visitors for a different day (not the paving day), unless they can park elsewhere and walk down the sidewalk to your home.
Parking suggestions during paving
Tilbury Road and Tilbury Place will be options for residents on the south end of Yarmouth and the part of Bradway east of Cranbrook. Bradway Blvd. to the west of Bradway Park is another option.
For Pine Street, residents may want to consider Tilbury Road and Waddington as alternatives.
For the north part of Yarmouth, Waddington Road, Westwood or Raynale (in Birmingham) are options.
Please don’t park on Yarmouth west of Cranbrook. Springline will be doing curb removals on those blocks of Yarmouth on 9/18.
