Township Approves Next Step for Gold and Yellow Sections

January 14, 2025

Last night, the Bloomfield Township Board of Trustees held the first public hearings for the Gold and Yellow section SADs. A number of Village residents expressed their views regarding fixing the Gold and Yellow section roads by forming SADs for each section. After hearing our residents speak and debating the issue, the Township Trustees unanimously approved moving the Gold and Yellow sections forward toward final approval! Thank you to all of the residents who attended the meeting and expressed their views on the SADs.

Over the next several months, the Road Commission will finalize the project plans and the bid packages for the Gold and Yellow sections. They anticipate the public bidding process for the Gold and Yellow sections will be conducted in March 2025. Each section will be bid separately, in accordance with RCOCs public bidding process, and the contract for the work will be awarded to the lowest qualified bidder for each section (if the SAD for that section receives final approval). See more discussion of the RCOC public bidding process HERE. RCOC and its contractors will be surveying in the Gold and Yellow sections over the 6 weeks or so gathering final data for the bid package.

Once the winning bidders for the project are selected, the Township Board will hold its second public hearing, at which it will (hopefully) give final approval for the SADs. The Township Board has set the date for the second Gold and Yellow section public hearings for the first Bloomfield Township Board meeting in May. Residents of the Gold and Yellow sections will receive a mailed notice of the meeting date from Bloomfield Township.

If the Township Board of Trustees gives final approval to the Gold and/or Yellow section SADs, construction would begin in late May or early June. It is anticipated that construction would last until mid- to late- November, similar to the Pink and Blue sections.

Congratulations to the residents of the Gold and Yellow sections on this significant step toward smooth, pot-hole free roads!
